Sports Tracker heading for Meego and Nokia N9

Nokia has started shipping the first much buzzed about Meego device – the Nokia N9. To celebrate that we’re happy to let you know that Sports Tracker is heading for Meego and therefore also the N9!

Development of the app is in full swing as we speak and here are the first screens to show you what the experience will be like.

The app will feature all the tracking capabilities you’ve come to expect from Sports Tracker and also support for the new Sports Tracker Heart Rate Monitor.

As for when you can get it: We are targeting to launch the app in November. The best way to keep tabs on the progress of this and other developments is by following us on Twitter and liking us on Facebook.

Stay tuned and keep on tracking!

Any news about Windows phone version? I think it will be a must in the near future?

    1. Oh Hei

@TH…I received an email from Sports Tracker stating that they did not have plans to develop this app for Windows Phone…I get the feeling that they are not happy that Nokia chose WP. Either that or they are holding out hoping that Microsoft or Nokia will pay them to make a WP version. One thing is for sure, they can’t use the excuse that WP doesn’t have a userbase, as WP has more users than the folks purchasing the N9 (and they are making a version for the N9) and will have even more once the new WP devices hit the market.

      1. Johan Olsson

But converting a Symbian App to Meego (Nokia N9) is easier than making it work on WP7.
Then again they said they had no plans on releasing a version for N9/Meego until just before the release so they might do the same with WP7. Either way I don’t care :P Happy owner of N9 and glad they are releasing Sports Tracker for it!

        1. Crawford

Me too!!! Very happy Sports Tracker is coming to the N9. THANK YOU!

        2. Philipp

I don’t care either … if they do not release it for WP7 then I go with other Sports Trackers ….

WP7 will get an enormous push with the upcoming Nokia phones – so I assume they won’t leave out potential very strong eco system like WP7 …

          1. Nrde

They are releasing it (WP version) I suppose someone persuaded them…

  14. Hani Mebar

Thanks Sports Tracker team!! Now I can finally really have one device for everything!! Best app ever.. cheers

    great news, legends!

    This is great thank you

A number of people I’ve been showing the N9 to have been asking about the availability of Sports Tracker

  19. Ashish

That’s grea news, waiting for so long for this.

  20. Wuest

Thats the best news, so I can order my N9 now. Thank you very much!

  21. Lloydo

Yay, this is great news! I too hope that this will mean you can develop ST in Qt for the newer Symbian devices as well.

  22. miksuh

Because this MeeGo version seems to be made using Qt and Qt Quick Components there should not be any reason why this could not be released as a Symbian version too. So please release this for the Symbian Anna and Symbian Belle too.

  23. TiiBo

GREAT NEWS! Thanks! Hope It will work with heart rate belt I just ordered so I can run and bike with my N9 instead of N8.

    1. TiiBo

Double great! If I just would have read before I wrote ;)

  24. mja

Is the older Polar bluetooth HR belt supported?

    1. JEL

I tested it with the older BT transmitter. It is found and paired but fails to display any heart rate.

So it seems like the old belt is not supported. Of course it is not. Then it would not generate sales from the old users. For me it means that I will still stick to the old one. I will not pay extra just to use ST on my N9.

      1. Rico

That sounds like a very stupid descision to make, IMHO. Not only because I have the Polar BT HR belt, but it makes it a bit “iPhone”-like to force the use of specific hardware. Hardware that can not be used with other applications either I guess…

  25. John

Great news, really excited for this. Let me know if you need a beta tester!

    1. MaxDEB

      You already have a Nokia N9 ?

  26. jaakko

    great news, thanks!!!

  27. Arnaud

At last! My prototype is screaming with joy ;)

  28. laalaa

all hail sports tracker for the n9!

btw. nice to notice that someone in the dev and/or test team lives in itä-pakila ;)

  29. Adele

    hooray! great news :)

  30. Mika

Very goog news! I hope this version wont use gps when paused, because it uses the battery so quick if it does.

    1. Nrde

How would it know when to start tracking again? pedometer?

      1. Nrde

To answer myself, of course he was talking about the pause function and not autopause I was thinking about.

  31. akik

Excellent news, an announcement I have been hoping for a long time.

  32. pjl

Yeah baby! Looking forward to have it soon

  33. Juha

Do I have to keep the phone in the pocket when I go to run or walk? Or do I connect the Heart RAte Monitor to the phone after the workout?

  34. Juho

Wonderful news! Along with Spotify, this seals the deal: N9 is my next phone.

  35. Sean

Would that be some integration with Nokia Maps I am seeing in the above images? Thus meaning I would not need a data connection to see my position on a map.

  36. Andreas

    Now I’ll definitely get a N9 :-).

  37. Eero

Awesome, best news for very long time!

  38. Andreas

Woohoo! This make me very happy.

  39. Stefan

Very good to hear. Any Roadmaps when 1st release is estimated?

    1. Jussi Solja

During November :) We’ll keep you posted!

thank you! feels kind of like a giant easter egg.

    1. Josh

Ok what a about a windows phone version?

      1. Nrde

Not want to put you down but… Who cares now :D

      2. Matti

I have been waiting Windows Phone version so long, is it coming?
