We’re excited to introduce the latest addition to our hardware family: Sports Tracker Speed & Cadence Sensor, a useful device for cyclists who want to learn to ride like a pro.
What the word cadence refers to is the number of pedal rotations per minute (RPM). The higher the cadence, the faster you’re pedaling. Why is it good to know your cadence then? Two words: training economy.
Especially beginners tend to pedal with high gear and low cadence, which requires lots of effort and is hard on muscles, knees and the Achilles tendon, increasing muscular fatigue and the risk of repetitive strain injuries. Using a cadence sensor allows you to adjust the pedaling speed to the optimal level of 80-110 RPM, where riding is easier and more efficient.
Sports Tracker Speed & Cadence Sensor is compatible with iPhone models 4S/5/5C/5S (Android support coming up in summer 2014) and can be used simultaneously with our heart rate monitors. Get yours now from our online shop and remember to update your Sports Tracker app to the latest version 1.8.19.
Happy tracking!

Tried my spanking new cadence sensor on my road bike just now. I don’t have a handlebar mount for my iPhone (5s) yet, so it’s hard to say how well it worked, as the only post-trip output was the max and avg cadence in the app. More detailed graphs in the iOS app and the web site can’t come soon enough!
Don’t want to sound like I’m whining tho – I’ve used Sports Tracker since the first Nokia internal alpha test, and the cadence sensor is a great addition to what already is a kick-ass service. Once the detailed reports become available, I’ll probably get another sensor for my MTB. Why? I’ve no idea…
Indrek
Can’t wait when it comes available for Android. Why don’t you start taking preorders right away!
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Indrek! The device will be the exact same one, so you can already purchase the sensor if you want to. You can start using it once we add the support in our Android app version.
Andy
Hi, Do you have any plans to offer the cadence sensor with a choice of heart rate sensor as a bundle at a discounted price?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Yep, it’s in our plans! I don’t have a time frame to give out at the moment, but keep an eye on our online store at http://shop.sports-tracker.com/

This will never be compatible with symbian, right?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Unfortunately not, since our Symbian app is no longer developed further :/
william docherty
not good enough my n8 is still my main tracking device
Alun
Disappointed to hear that you’ve dropped Symbian development, I’ve been here since 2007 and have almost 1000 uploads.
Will the new web service allow Symbian users to upload once it goes live?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Alun! Nokia Store for Symbian was closed in January this year, so Symbian development in general around the world is pretty much over :/ You’ll be able to import your workouts to our new website though, which means you can continue using your account from a different phone should you get a new one.
Bertram
What about the symbian / Nokia support? I would like to use my nokia c7?
How can I controll the cacence while riding the bycicle? I can’t see much on the phone display. What about a sound to get feedback from the device?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Bertram! Unfortunately our Symbian app is no longer developed further. I’ll add the idea about cadence voice feedback to our wish list though!
Mikko Peltonen
I’m really looking forward to see this supported on Android! Hopefully before June, so I can start biking with it as soon as possible.
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
There’s a lot going on with us at the moment, but we’ll do our best! Thanks for your support! :)
Johannes
Hi, i just upgraded from IOS (iphone 4S) to the new samsung galaxy S5. Its very disappointing that sports tracker for Android will not accept 3rd party pulse sensors like the Polar bluetooth smart, because it worked seamlessly with my iphone’s sports tracker.
Why would you not allow 3rd party accessories with Android, but allow for iOS devices?
Makes little sense to me.
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Johannes! Think I replied you in the other post, but just to be sure: we’re hoping to add the support for Android soon pending testing.
Stu King
Johannes, I use a Polar Bluetooth HRM and it works perfectly, both with my Galaxy S3 and my Sony Z1. You need to understand that there are Apple Version for Polar and Android…. frustrating I agree, but your beef is with Apple… Not Sports tracker..
Zorza
One BIG question. I already have the Heart Rate sensor.. Will I be able to get the 2 readings (heart rate and cadence) on my phone at the same time?
I ask because of the pairing of more than one bluetooth device at the same time…
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hey Zorza! Yes, you can pair two devices at the same time and get the readings from both :)
htmval
The battery consumption is higher with two devices?
It is possible to measure WATT?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi! WATT measuring is not possible with our cadence sensor. As to battery consumption, our Smart belt shouldn’t affect it. HRM2 may increase it a little.

Is this device standards compatible? Can the device be used with other Android software such as Endomondo or Strava?
What is the difference between Wahoo Blue SC and this device? It looks really same. Is this Wahoo’s device rebranded or is there some difference?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Tommi! Yep, our cadence has been reported to work at least with Strava. Depends really whether there’s support from their end.
Wahoo’s sensor has a memory that can store data without the Bluetooth connection. Our sensor doesn’t have that, so a phone and the BT connection is required for it to work.
EDIT: I was corrected by our team, Wahoo’s sensor is in fact the same product as ours, i.e. our sensor also has a memory. The memory doesn’t store cadence data, but saves the total distance you ride. My apologies for the wrong info!
Tony
Great, been waiting for this for a long time! Is this same device gonna be supported on Android, or is it gonna be a different model (hopefully not)? And how about Windows Phone, is support there planned, in the works or not-gonna-happen?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Tony! This same device will work on Android as well, no worries :) As to WP, it’s under consideration, but no further news to share at the moment.
petijumo
I’d be interested in WP support too!!
Teemu
Sad that there is so big gap in between the release dates (iPhone vs. Android). But still am very happy about the cadence sensor – it’s a valuable addon (with HRM) to cycling sports tracker user.
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Teemu, thanks for your feedback. We’ll try to add the Android support as soon as possible!
Roland
Vilma!
You forgot to answer the Windowsphone question.
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Roland, we don’t have news to share on WP at the moment :/
VV
Very nice. What does the cadence data look like on the website?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi, at the moment the cadence data will only show in the app. We’ll work on adding the website visibility to our new website that’s coming out pretty soon :)
Jani Lirkki
Cool! When will the cadence sensor support Windows Phone?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hey Jani, we don’t have news to share on WP at the moment, but follow our FB/Twitter and blog for all updates on this.
Mark
I’m interested but I don’t know if it would work on a recumbent.
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Mark, what size are your tires?
Ivar
When will the bike mount for Galaxy models be available?
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Ivar, we’re looking at summer 2014 for Galaxy S4.

Hola. Que precio tendría para Android. Gracias
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker

Jan
Great invention! I want to see it for windows phone too!
Vilma / Team Sports Tracker
Hi Jan! We don’t have news to share on WP at the moment, but will post about any updates on this here in our blog.
