Needed to put you a very little observation to be able to say thank you over again relating to the nice principles you’ve provided on this website. It’s remarkably generous of you giving freely just what a number of us would’ve supplied for an electronic book to get some bucks for their own end, especially considering that you might well have done it if you ever wanted. The concepts additionally worked as a great way to fully grasp that someone else have the same desire much like my very own to figure out whole lot more pertaining to this problem. I’m certain there are many more enjoyable occasions in the future for many who read carefully your site.

    Hei!

I was very happy with Sports Tracker on my Nokia. When I switched to an iPhone, I was sorry to lose it – and at first felt that the Cyclemeter app was a poor substitute. So I was excited to learn that ST was available for iPhone.

However, the absence of audio announcements is a deal breaker for me. When that nice lady in Cyclemeter tells me I am behind my best or median performance by 45 seconds, I am motivated to work harder. Even when she tells me I am ahead of my best performance, it makes me try harder again.

This little coach in my ear has allowed me to shave 8-10 minutes off a 20km circuit – and to pretty much improve my performance painlessly week on week. If ST wants me back, it needs to give me a nice coach in my ear.

So, I am happy to learn that the ST team are working to give me one …

I watched the iPhone video and am assuming the Android client will function the same when it eventually lands.

It looks great but there is one thing that is very disappointing. If I only want to use ST to track my runs and I do all of my “admin” on the web site, it seems tedious to do.

Three clicks to start tracking and then another two to stop??? Endomondo (the tracking app I’ve been using since moving from Nokia to Android) is a single click to start tracking and a single click to stop.

If there’s not already a way to default to the “Start tracking” screen when you start the app, please add this as a feature.

And why do I have to pause before I can stop?? Why not allow a single-click stop?

The app looks and works great, but it misses at least one very important function, which is voice feedback. I run with an armband ant it’s very uncomfortable to look at the device all the time to see my stats. The lack of this feature makes me wanna come back to RunKeeper or Nike+ GPS.
Also, controling music from within an app would be a nice.

    Cheers! :)

    1. Jussi Solja

      Hi!

Voice feedback is one of the features that is currently under construction :)

Thank you for your response :). Can’t wait then.

  10. Tare

    +1(00) for Android !!!

[…] Watch out Nike+ GPS and Run Keeper, there’s a new kid on the block and he goes by the name “Sports Tracker“. Many of you may not have heard about this application, but it’s got a history full of twists and turns that could make for an award winning soap opera for geeks. Sports Tracker started out as a side project by a bunch of Nokia engineers back in April 2007. When they pitched their app to upper management, the dudes in charge of course said no because they can’t see innovation even if it dressed up as Russian soldier, invaded Finland, and burned down half of Helsinki. Feeling frustrated, the team left the company and decided to turn their side project into a company. Nokia, noticing that they made a huge mistake, hired them as contractors to continue developing the app for Symbian devices, and there’s a rumor floating around that they offered them double their previous salaries. Several months ago the Sports Tracker folks decided that they wanted to expand their target audience to people other than Symbian owners, a wise choice since that platform is rapidly falling off a cliff, and today they’re pleased to announce that their app is now available for the Apple iPhone. Because the release of Sports Tracker for Android was not done with the Sports Tracker for iPhone? I’m needing this application long ago, I can not wait.

  18. masamune1981

Yesterday, I could take a look at the app on my friend’s iPhone. Though, I couldn’t test the gps, the whole app looks really great. But one thing I am not quite sure about. From back then, I remember that sports tracker was able to count steps, but I couldn’t see any counter on the iPhone’s gui. Did you guys remove this feature?

    1. Samy

I noticed as well that there is no step counter, is it a limitation on iPhone?

  19. marco

I’m sad, I was waiting a long time for this application to switch from nokia but it seems it does not support yet the polar bt belt…. wtf! So for me this app is beautiful but unuseful and I’ll not use it.

    1. Jussi Solja

      Hi Marco!

Sorry to disappoint but Apple does not support Bluetooth HR devices so there’s nothing we can do :(

  20. Tobias Mayr

The app looks really great, haven’t got the time to test it jet. But I’ve used ST on my old Nokia since the beginning of the app ;)
Just a question…You are planning to add other maps, are you??? Because having Google Maps on an outdoor app isn’t very useful..

    Hoping for the best ;)

Will it work with the bluetooth polar belt? I don’t see that feature anywhere

    1. John McCabe

I’m not an employee or anything, but the Polar Wearlink+ BT HRM won’t work with the iPhone. The iPhone has a seriously limited BT capability that means you can hardly use any BT devices with it.

There are dongles though that will provide ANT+ facilities so that some of Garmin’s HR belts (and Wahoo is it?) will work although someone else would have to tell you if the Sports Tracker app supports that.

I’m certainly hoping the Android version will support the Polar BT belt!

      Hope this helps.
